Saying goodbye is never easy, especially to someone who has been a cherished part of the family for 20 years. To honor their helper, Anik, who had been with them for two decades, one Singaporean family decided to give her a heartfelt send-off, complete with a special gift—a long service award trophy.
A video of the emotional occasion was shared on TikTok by user Clara Chen on August 20, and it recently resurfaced, gaining attention on the platform. The 48-second clip shows Chen’s family and relatives gathering to bid Anik farewell, with Chen captioning the video, “We love you and you will always be a part of us.”
During the farewell, the family presented Anik with a personalized trophy that read “20 Year Long Service,” which she accepted with a big smile. Anik expressed her gratitude, saying “Thank you everyone,” and referred to them as her “second family.”
Chen’s mother gave an appreciation speech, thanking Anik for taking care of the household and raising her children. As Anik became emotional, Chen’s mother lovingly reassured her, saying, “Don’t cry! You’re going to be a big boss in Indonesia! God will bless you, and that’s the most important thing.”
In addition to the trophy, the family gifted Anik a Samsung mobile phone, which is valued at around $600. “We love you and thanks for taking care of us for so many years!” Chen wrote in the video.
The latter part of the clip shows the tearful goodbye at the airport as Anik prepared to return home to Indonesia. The video has since garnered over 200,000 views, with many netizens praising the family’s thoughtful gesture. Several users also shared well-wishes for Anik’s future.
Replying to a comment asking if Anik was retiring, Chen mentioned that Anik actually owns a provision shop and sells petrol in her hometown in Indonesia.
Just a month earlier, another Singaporean couple surprised their helper by reuniting her with her daughter in Bali after three years apart. The emotional reunion was captured in a TikTok video by Theinash Pac, who explained that the trip was a birthday gift for their helper.
“Zulae was like an angel sent from heaven,” Theinesh shared, expressing gratitude for her care of their family and children.
