A 29-year-old man was discovered dead at a shophouse in River Valley on the morning of Monday, Sep. 26. The shophouse, located next to The Wharf Residence on Tong Watt Road, was undergoing renovation at the time.
According to Shin Min Daily News, no renovation work had been carried out over the weekend, and workers who returned on Monday found the body. The man appeared to have sustained injuries consistent with a fall from a height.
Workers immediately reported the discovery to the police. At least five police vehicles and an ambulance were spotted outside the shophouse shortly after.
The shophouse had been locked up over the weekend, and no one was staying on the premises at the time of the incident. The individual overseeing the construction confirmed that the deceased man was not part of the construction crew. Furthermore, no equipment or property appeared to be missing from the site.
Construction in the area had begun approximately two weeks prior, a local resident said. The police interviewed neighbors, asking if they had seen anyone suspicious in the vicinity or if any of their belongings had gone missing.
The authorities were alerted to the incident around 9:51 a.m. Investigations are ongoing.
