A tragic accident on Monday, April 22, 2024, at the intersection of Tampines Avenue 1 and Tampines Avenue 4 in Singapore has claimed two lives, following what appears to be reckless driving by a black Saab. The incident, which occurred around 7:07 a.m., saw the Saab speeding through a red light and colliding with multiple vehicles, ultimately damaging six in total.
Footage released online reveals the black Saab attempting to overtake a white Mercedes along Bedok Reservoir Road moments before the crash. The Mercedes dashcam captured the Saab sideswiping it and nearly colliding with a motorcyclist before racing into the busy intersection.
Casualties:
Tragically, eight individuals were hospitalized due to the accident, including two children aged 11. Among the fatalities were a 17-year-old junior college student and a 57-year-old female van passenger, both of whom succumbed to injuries shortly after being transported to the hospital.
The video footage has intensified the conversation about road safety and responsible driving, especially at busy intersections.
