SINGAPORE — A man took to social media to complain about his upstairs neighbor in Toa Payoh, accusing them of pouring urine from their bedroom window
SINGAPORE — A man took to social media to complain about his upstairs neighbor in Toa Payoh, accusing them of pouring urine from their bedroom window every morning between 5 to 6 am. The neighbor also allegedly throws cigarette butts, sanitary items, tissue papers, and food waste, according to Mr. Valiant Khong, who posted on the COMPLAINT SINGAPORE Facebook page on Tuesday (Feb 8).
Khong expressed concerns about hygiene, especially for the small children living in the area, and questioned the lack of enforcement. “Singapore, my homeland, our 1st world country, should stop all these culprits from committing the same offenses,” he wrote, adding that stricter action should be taken, as it was under previous leadership.
Despite lodging numerous complaints with the National Environment Agency (NEA), Khong claims that only warnings have been issued. He requested the installation of surveillance cameras but says he was initially met with excuses. It was only after a video of the culprit was shared in the neighborhood that more action was taken.
The neighbor, described as reclusive, has reportedly never been seen outside their home. When approached by media, there was no response from the neighbor’s residence. The issue has affected other households, with one resident even filing a complaint with the Housing Development Board (HDB).
Khong also reported that the urine is sometimes disposed of during the late morning or afternoon, and even during the Chinese New Year, the neighbor allegedly continued their behavior.
As of today, NEA informed Khong that the Town Council has agreed to set up surveillance cameras to monitor the situation, which will start operating soon.
The Independent Singapore has reached out to NEA for further comment.
